Research software and data are tightly connected. Good data management relies also on good code. Without good research software, research data would not have much value at all. Therefore I would like to recommend this upcoming workshop about research software engineering.

Dear colleagues,



We’re happy to invite you to this year’s HKHLR / HeFDI Code School: Principles of Research Software Engineering, a hands-on workshop on making research software more sustainable, maintainable, and testable. Join us in person to meet others, share experiences, and network during breaks and discussions, or join us online.



During the workshop, we’ll take the perspective of an academic software developer working with an existing code base and tasked to add new functionality. You’ll gain hands-on experience tackling common challenges such as missing tests, technical debt, and code refactoring.



When & Where
October 20 - 22,  Marburg University / Online (hybrid)



Who should join
The Advanced Track is designed for participants who already have some experience with research software development. You should be comfortable reading and writing Python code.
