Dear RDM Community,

For me, research data management is tightly connected to the Code of Conduct "Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice" (https://www.dfg.de/en/basics-topics/basics-and-principles-of-funding/good-scientific-practice/code-of-conduct). We are very fortunate at the OVGU to have the Scientific Integrity Office (Martina Beyrau) as central contact point. I highly recommend the courses, especially those related to the Good Research practice: https://wi.ovgu.de/wi/en/Workshops+_+Courses-p-54.html

Especially persons providing RDM support should be familiar with these guidelines. Therefore I highly recommend to attend these courses and workshops.

Liebe Promovierende & PostDocs,

gerne möchte ich Sie auf die nächsten drei Kursangebote der Servicestelle Wissenschaftliche Integrität aufmerksam machen.

  *   Am 7. Mai (10 - 11 Uhr) beleuchtet Ahmar Hussain aus der Data and Knowledge Engineering Group der FIN in einem Fokuskurs "Fake Papers"<https://www.wi.ovgu.de/Workshops+_+Kurse/GWP_+Fokus+_Fake+Papers_-p-166.html> dieses wichtige Thema. Was sind "fake papers" eigentlich, was sollten wir als Wissenschaftler:innen darüber wissen und was können wir gegen das Problem tun?

  *   Am 13. Mai (10 - 12 Uhr) folgt in Zusammenarbeit mit Dr. Wolf Zinke (Koordination Forschungsdatenmanagement der OVGU) das Kursangebot "From Integrity to FAIR: How Good Scientific Practice Leads to Better Data Management"<https://www.wi.ovgu.de/Workshops+_+Kurse/From+Integrity+to+FAIR_+How+Good+Scientific+Practice+Leads+to+Better+Data+Management-p-160.html>. Dieser Schwerpunktkurs legt den Fokus auf die Themen FAIR data und Datenmanagement. In kompakter Form lernen Sie in zwei Stunden die wichtigsten Grundlagen und reflektieren anhand praktischer Übungen Ihr eigenes Wissen und die Bedeutung des Themas für Ihren Forschungsalltag.

  *   Am 17. Juni (9 - 15 Uhr) bieten wir wieder einen "Einführungskurs zur guten wissenschaftlichen Praxis an"<https://www.wi.ovgu.de/Workshops+_+Kurse/Einf%C3%BChrung+zur+guten+wissenschaftlichen+Praxis.html>. Dieser findet - um die Teilnahme für die FME zu erleichtern - auf dem Campus der Medizinischen Fakultät statt, ist aber für alle Fachrichtungen geeignet. In kompakter Form erhalten Sie einen Einstieg in die Themenfelder wissenschaftliche Integrität, gute wissenschaftliche Praxis und wissenschaftliches Fehlverhalten.

Dear PhD students & postdocs,

I would like to draw your attention to three upcoming courses offered by the Scientific Integrity Office.

  *   On 7 May (10 - 11 am), Ahmar Hussain from FIN's Data and Knowledge Engineering Group will shed light on an important topic in a focus course entitled 'Fake Papers'<https://www.wi.ovgu.de/wi/en/Workshops+_+Courses/GWP_+Focus+_Fake+Papers_-p-166.html>. What are fake papers, what should we as scientists know about them and what can we do about the problem?

  *   This will be followed on 13 May (10 am - 12 pm) by the course 'From Integrity to FAIR: How Good Scientific Practice Leads to Better Data Management'<https://www.wi.ovgu.de/wi/en/Workshops+_+Courses/From+Integrity+to+FAIR_+How+Good+Scientific+Practice+Leads+to+Better+Data+Management-p-160.html> in collaboration with Dr Wolf Zinke (Coordination of Research Data Management at OVGU). This specialisation course focuses on the topics of FAIR data and data management. In a compact form, you will learn the most important basics in two hours and reflect on your own knowledge and the significance of the topic for your everyday research using practical exercises.

  *   On 17 June (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) we are offering the next 'Introduction to good scientific practice'<https://www.wi.ovgu.de/en/Workshops+_+Courses/Introduction+to+good+scientific+practice.html> course. This will take place on the campus of the Medical Faculty to facilitate attendance for FME participants, but is suitable for all disciplines. You will receive a compact introduction to the topics of scientific integrity, good scientific practice and scientific misconduct.
