[iaoa-swao] SIG Blog and IAOA sub-domains/sub-folders

Leo kindly consulted with the IAOA on the hosting questions we raised during our last meeting. Here is Oliver's response:

<< Very briefly, if I understood correctly, you want to run a blog (call it BLOG). I can either
1- let you (or somebody else) install it on a site's subfolder (reachable as www.iaoa.org/BLOG<http://www.iaoa.org/BLOG>)
2- manage through GoDaddy to set up a new FQDN inside the iaoa.org domain (like BLOG.iaoa.org pointing to the usual physical machine) then, using apaches virtualhosts redirect the FQDN to the previously created subfolder)

Usually, even if you eventually want 2), it's better to start with 1) for testing if everything works correctly.
The differences between 2) and 1) (the easier way) are more 'political' then just 'technical'. >>

Personally, I find something like www.iaoa.org/swaoblog<http://www.iaoa.org/swaoblog> to be a plausible way to start with (or www.iaoa.org/swao/blog<http://www.iaoa.org/swao/blog>).
